Programming Additional BMW Key Fobs 

If you’ve got a working BMW key fob but want to program additional keys for your Clovis BMW, follow these steps.

1. Take the working key fob and the ones you wish to program into the car and close all doors and windows.
2. Put the working key into the ignition and turn it to the next position over (do not start the vehicle). This will turn on the dash lights and accessories.
3. Turn the key back again and remove it.
4. On the working key, hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times, then release the unlock button. This will automatically lock and unlock the doors.
5. Take the new key and hold down the unlock button while pressing the BMW logo 3 times, then release the unlock button. This will lock and unlock the doors again, meaning you’re done.

Programming a New Key from Scratch

If you’re wondering how to program a BMW key but don’t have a working key with you, this is what you do.

1. Put the key into the ignition and rapidly turn it to the next position and back five times.
2. Remove the key from the ignition.
3. Hold the unlock button and press the BMW logo three times, then release the unlock button.
4. If you’ve got more keys you’d like to program at this time, repeat step three within 30 seconds of you programming the original key.
5. Turn on the ignition to complete the process.
